Danny Lewin,
They say that he was the first victim to die on September 11, 2001. Daniel "Danny" Lewin was an American-Israeli mathematician and entrepreneur best known for co-founding the internet company Akamai Technologies. He was on Flight 11, the first plane to be hijacked and crash and caused the North tower to collapse. It was said that he tried to stop the hijacking and was stabbed from behind and he became the first person to die in the 9/11 attack. He had a wife, Anne and two sons, Eitan and Itamar. Danny Lewin was a trained warrior and was part of the elite counterterrorism unit, Sayeret Mat’kal in Israel, where he became a captain. The most interesting is that he was the first person to die in 9/11 and he paid the ultimate price trying to stop Flight 11 from being hijacked. He was a smart guy and he basically came up with the software Akamai Technologies. It is still used today and it is responsible for more than 30% of the world's internet traffic, and for keeping giant internet systems like iTunes and Facebook running smoothly. Reports say that his family and close friends said before they even read the final report they already knew how he died. They knew he tried everything and fought with everything he had to try and stop the hijacking.
I learned that it doesn't matter if there is something not right about a situation or if something is wrong you should stand up and act on it. I learned that you should always fight for what you believe is right and that you never give up until you give everything you have. I also learned that if you are forced to do something that you don't like, you fight it and try to change it.
In my life I always try to do the right things. I stand up for what I believe in and don't let anyone tell me otherwise. This story taught me that even if someone isn't exactly from a certain place they still love where they are at in life and still will tell anyone or do anything to not let anything bad happen to the place they love.

I had never heard this story before and it's by-far the best one I have read. It is crazy to picture this actually happening-- I think of this more as a movie scene rather than real life.
ReplyDeleteGreat guy, with much potential after all of his amazing achievements. Thanks for sharing this story.
