Garnet Bailey
A kind man, great hockey player, and a great hockey scout is no longer with us. Garnet Bailey, also know as Ace, was born on June 13, 1948 and died on September 11, 2001. He was a passenger on flight 175. Sadly, he attempted to call his wife numerous times before his death with no luck. His wife said she had no idea that Garnet was on the plane or was in harms way. Mr. Bailey clearly had a passion for hockey. He played in the NHL for the Boston Bruins. With the Bruins, he won the Stanley Cup twice, in 1970 and in 1972. He played for the Bruins for five seasons and then continued playing with various other teams. Upon completion of his hockey playing career, Mr. Bailey continued his hockey life as a scout for the LA Kings. Although he wasn't the best skater nor the greatest scorer, his personality shined and carried with it countless stories and friends. After his death, Garnet Bailey's family started a charity for children requiring medical assistance called the Ace Bailey Children's Fund. Mr.Bailey was a great guy who lead an extraordinary life and will be missed by hundreds of fans, friends, and family members. Research on this person has shown me that anyone, a big-time celebrity, an Athlete, or even the average Joe, everyone is equal and when their time comes, nobody can avoid their fate. It has taught me that the it is important tell the people you love that you love them all the time so you're not ever put in a position that Garnet Bailey had to sadly be in. It has also taught me to be more aware of my surroundings.

  5. I never knew that a prominent NHL hockey player lost his life on 9/11. This just shows how tragic and sad this event was. I think it it encouraging to see that from this incident there can be good to come out of it with his charity fund.
