Vincent Kane was a fire fighter in New York City that lost his life while saving others. He was part of the Engine Company 22, and was well liked by his fellow coworkers. He wasn't the "normal firefighter stereotype"said Michael Ruddick, one of the men in Company 22. Vincent lived in the Upper East Side and loved to go to Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also was fascinated with the New York Philharmonic and went to performances as much as possible. He also played the guitar and his whole neighborhood enjoyed listening to him play his music. He even kept a guitar in his locker at the fire station. Not only was Kane passionate about art and music he was also an environmentalist and a vegetarian. Many of the guys from his company picked on him for being a vegetarian, but all in good fun. He was well liked by many and very friendly. He was never married but had a close relationship with his dad, mom and two sisters. I can tell even after reading a little article of Mr. Kane's life that he was a remarkable man.
From Vincent's story I learned that there is nothing wrong with being different from everyone else and that some of the most remarkable people are different then the rest of society. I also learned that following your passions is so important because if you don't follow what you are passionate about then you start to lose part of yourself.
I can apply both of these things that I learned from Vincent's story to my life. I need to make sure that I stay strong in what I believe in and that I don't give up on my passions. If I go through life and don't do either of these things then I am going to regret it in the end.

This man is a true hero who lost his life trying to save others. Stories like his need to be shared more openly. We must never forget those who died on that day and this man was a true hero when those towers fell, he was there to pick up the fallen.
