1.) I did not like the ending to the book. I thought it was a very bad ending. I believe Ma did the right thing by getting her family out of there and some where where they wouldn't be in water. Also it was kind of weird what Rose of Sharon did, at least I thought it was. But she was using what she had to help someone else since she couldn't use it anyway else.
2.) I believe the Joads will be okay. They will struggle for food for a little while but as the time goes they will find good work and stay determined to get a little house. I believe they will run into Tom at least one more time in their lives and they will stay with Al and Aggie as they go through their marriage. I also believe Rose of Sharon will find someone else and have a family because Ma told her she could have more.
It's interesting how different our views are about the ending to the book. Reading this made me take another look at it and I can see your point. It does seem kind of abrupt, like it could have gone on much longer, but Steinbeck wrapped it up quickly and was done with it.
ReplyDeleteGood foresight and imagination about what you expect will happen. I hadn't given much thought about Al and Aggie's future. I do agree that Tom would most likely return at some point, leading the charge against the monster.
