Presentation

What I would like to do for the presentation would to learn about Bonnie and Clyde, Al Capone, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. The reason why I choose these topics because they seemed interesting to me, especially Al Capone being a mob boss. I know some things about these people but would like to learn more about them.

Presentation

The three topics that I thought were most interesting were the child labor amendment, Al Capone, and Bonnie and Clyde.

I thought the story of Bonnie and Clyde was the most interesting topic. Bonnie and Clyde were famous bank robbers that traveled through the central United States between 1931 and 1934. They traveled with their gang and committed several robberies and even murders. Bonnie and Clyde separately began their life of crime at a very early age, both being teenagers. They met in January of 1930, when Bonnie was 19 and Clyde was 20. From there they began their life of crime together.

The most interesting subjects from the Depression era for me are Bonnie and Clyde, John Dillinger, and Al Capone. I have always been interest in gangsters from this era. They were, in a way, business men who knew what they were doing. Detailed planning went into their work, they wore suits, and they were feared by most of the country. They were a completely different breed from today's gangsters.

Presentation 1

The three main topics I would like to do for our presentation projects would be Bonnie and Clyde, the bank robbers, the Dust Bowl, and Y.M.C.A. I have heard of Bonnie and Clyde, that they were bank robbers but other than that I don't know to much about them. I have always been interested when it comes to topics like the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. I guess it just amazes me how bad our country got and everyone who made it through. The final topic I like is Y.M.C.A., I have never actual known what YMCA stands for or how it was founded or how it came to be what it is today. I did find that it stands for the young mans christian association.

The three topics that I have chosen are, Al Capone, gangster and mafia boss, mob boss, 18th and 21st amendments, and Prohibition and its repeal. I think that all three of these are intertwined with each other.  The 18th amendment prohibited the sale of alcohol. This was when Al Capone became the most famous bootlegger of that time. It was the amendment that gave him the name, and it was him, as well as the organized crime, and people’s reaction that gave us the 21st amendment, to repeal the 18th amendment and end prohibition, making the sale of alcohol legal again. This also brought Al Capone to jail because of all the tax evasion, but still did not completely put an end to organized crime. This is a very famous part of U.S history that has resulted in many crimes, deaths, and new laws.

presentation project subjects

During The Great Depression the subjects that interest me the most are the inventions, Che Guevara, and the stock market crash on the day known as Black Tuesday. Out of these three subjects the one that interests me the most are the inventions created during this era. During The Great Depression GDP decreased significantly, unemployment rose tremendously and it was a very challenging time for many people and businesses. Even though this era brought many obstacles to people and businesses alike, there were still many inventions during this period that are still widely used today. Some of the inventions created during The Great Depression are the electric guitar, programming languages, polarized sunglasses, LSD, the ballpoint pen and many other inventions. It is incredible that even during this stressful period of time a lot of great inventions came to life.

Presentation Project

Three Topics: Al Capone, 18th 21st Amendments, Y.M.C.A

The Eighteenth Amendment was adopted in 1917 and ratified two years later on January 1919. The Eighteenth Amendment dealt the prohibition of Alcohol, specifically the manufacture and sale of the intoxicating substance. Late January 1920, the Volstead Act was passed to enforce the Eighteenth Amendment. The Volstead Act stated that a beverage is considered intoxicating if it contained more than .5% of Alcohol. This was very difficult for people who had made alcohol a part of their lives before the ratification. One person, widely known as Al Capone, saw the Eighteenth Amendment as an easy way to make lots of money through bootlegging. Organized crime began developing nationwide. This lead to the national government ratifying the 21st amendment which repealed the prohibition. I believe this would make a great presentation because it was one of the worst experiences preceding The Great Depression. I think it is something worth learning about as it is one of the few major mistakes the government has made.
